Welcome to

Jon’s Tennis Academy

Jon’s Tennis Academy (JTA) is a registered Tennis Australia Hot Shots. We aim to provide a fun and family friendly environment to help people of all ages enjoy tennis and achieve their individual tennis goals.

What We Provide

We provide tennis coaching programs that cover a range of age and skill levels from beginner children to adult. Our aim is to provide a development path for junior tennis players through coaching programs at clubs and schools, with personalised attention and a fun filled environment.

Jon’s Tennis Academy is a registered Tennis Australia Hot Shots deliverer and uses the Hot Shots program for the basic coaching structure.

By agreement with schools, Jon’s Tennis Academy conducts Tennis in Schools programs. JTA is equipped with mini nets, racquets and modified balls so schools can include the game of tennis in their physical education program.

Junior Coaching Program

For juniors, the Hot Shots program is the most popular coaching program and is fully endorsed and supported by Tennis Australia. This program is complemented by the Australian Sports Commission Game Sense Approach to assist players with the activities in a fun and friendly environment.

The Hot Shots program is just for kids. Smaller courts, lighter racquets and low-compression balls that don’t bounce too high make learning tennis fun and easy for primary school-aged children. This means that kids are able to start rallying and having fun right from their first lesson.

The program is designed for 4-10 year olds. There are four stages – Blue, Red, Orange and Green – that help to develop children’s skills and confidence.

For new players, JTA recommends a free assessment lesson to determine the most appropriate starting level.

If your child really wants to focus on their tennis and/or improve specific skills then private lessons can be arranged.

ADULT Coaching Program

Beginner to intermediate group adult classes provide a comprehensive fundamentals program that aim to have you playing better tennis.

A great way to put into practice what you have learned and to test yourself is the combination of coaching and match play.

Private lessons are simply the fastest way to learn and improve your tennis. Beginner adults would generally be better starting with a private lesson. If you want to focus on your tennis or improve specific skills then private lessons can be arranged.

JTA kids have the opportunity to play on courts and/or Toss the Coin at the Australian Open with the Tennis Australia Kids on Court program. Holiday Clinics are held during school holidays, covering the basic fundamentals of tennis, with other fun games and activities.
