Meet the Head Coach

Jon began his tennis career at the age of one, using his left hand, and remains just as passionate about tennis today as he was then. Along the way he has collected a string of club championship awards, in Junior and Senior competitions in both singles and doubles. He has tertiary qualifications in Sports Development, Athlete Support Services and Small Business Management and has worked at the Australian Open as a qualified line umpire.

Jon has been coaching for over 12 years and in that time, excluding the Tennis in Schools groups, has personally coached well over 550 players. He has adopted and enhanced the Australian Sports Commission Game Sense Approach to assist players with activities, team work and learn the key aspects of tennis in a fun and friendly environment. This gives the players the best opportunity to further develop and hone their skills by supplementing the more technical lessons with gamified components which teach children useful skills without them realising it.

Jon has also developed a series of off-court lessons for situations when on-court coaching has been temporarily disrupted due to the weather.

To maintain his own skills, Jon has professional coaching lessons and regularly plays in A1 and Pennant 2 competition teams.
